Troubleshooting
If Workbench isn't behaving as expected, this guide covers the most common issues and their solutions. Most problems can be resolved in a few minutes without reinstalling the extension.
Quick Troubleshooting Checklist#
Before diving into specific issues, try these quick fixes:
- Refresh the current page.
- Close and reopen the browser tab.
- Restart your browser.
- Ensure Workbench is enabled in your browser's extensions.
- Verify you're signed in if using cloud features.
- Check your internet connection if cloud sync or AI-powered features are affected.
- Update Workbench to the latest version.
- Disable other extensions temporarily to rule out conflicts.
Common Issues#
Workbench Doesn't Appear on Supported Websites#
Possible Causes
- The extension is disabled.
- The current website is unsupported.
- The page loaded before Workbench initialized.
- Another extension is interfering.
Solutions
1. Refresh the page. 2. Verify Workbench is enabled in your browser. 3. Open a new supported AI chat. 4. Restart your browser. 5. Temporarily disable other browser extensions to identify conflicts.
Sidebar Doesn't Open#
Try the Following
- Click the Workbench extension icon.
- Refresh the page.
- Ensure the sidebar isn't already collapsed.
- Check whether overlay or push mode is enabled in your preferences.
- Restart the browser.
If the issue continues, disable and re-enable the extension.
Floater Button Is Missing#
The floater may have been disabled.
Check:
Settings → Floater
Make sure:
- Floater is enabled.
- The current website supports the floater.
- The sidebar isn't already open (the floater automatically hides in some situations).
Conversations Are Not Being Saved#

Prompt Library Is Empty#
If your prompts are missing:
- Confirm you're using the correct account.
- Check whether cloud sync is enabled.
- Search the prompt library.
- Verify prompts weren't filtered by tags or models.
- Restore from a previous backup if available.
Scratchpad Changes Are Not Saving#
Try the following:
- Wait a few seconds before closing the page.
- Ensure cloud synchronization has completed.
- Refresh the page.
- Restart the browser.
If you're working offline, changes will sync once you're connected again.
AI Features Aren't Working#
Examples include:
- Prompt optimization
- Rewrite
- Summarize
- Flashcards
- Quiz generation
- Tone rewriting
- AI analysis
Check the following:
- Internet connection
- Available AI credits
- Active account session
- Temporary service availability
If everything appears normal, retry after a few minutes.
Citation or Hallucination Analysis Doesn't Complete#

Large responses or slow websites may require additional processing time.
Compare Across LLMs Doesn't Work#
Confirm:
- The feature is available for your plan.
- Supported AI platforms are selected.
- You're signed in.
- Network connectivity is stable.
Retry after refreshing the page.
Keyboard Shortcuts Don't Respond#
Check:
- Keyboard shortcuts are enabled.
- Another extension isn't using the same shortcut.
- The current website supports shortcut functionality.
- Browser permissions haven't changed.
Restart the browser if necessary.
Import or Export Fails#
Before exporting:
- Ensure sufficient storage space.
- Verify the selected export format.
- Try exporting a smaller dataset if working with a very large library.
Before importing:
- Confirm the file format is supported.
- Verify the file hasn't been modified unexpectedly.
- Ensure the CSV structure matches the expected format.
Slow Performance#
Performance may be affected by:
- Large prompt libraries
- Extensive conversation history
- Numerous active browser extensions
- Limited system resources
You can improve performance by:
- Restarting the browser.
- Closing unused tabs.
- Disabling unnecessary extensions.
- Updating your browser.
- Keeping Workbench updated.
Browser Compatibility#
Workbench is designed for modern Chromium-based browsers.
If you're using an unsupported browser, some features may not function correctly.
Always keep both your browser and Workbench updated to ensure the best experience.
Extension Conflicts#
Some browser extensions may interfere with Workbench.
Common examples include:
- Sidebar extensions
- Clipboard managers
- Website modification tools
- Privacy or script-blocking extensions
If you suspect a conflict:

Resetting Workbench#
