Cloud Sync & Data
Cloud Sync & Data
With Enable Cloud Sync & Intelligence on, everything you save follows your account across devices, tracked with a small set of status badges. This page covers what those badges mean, triggering a sync by hand, and how the extension behaves when you are offline.
Prerequisites:
- Signed in: Sync runs on a signed-in account. See sign in to the extension.
- Enable Cloud Sync & Intelligence on: The master switch lives in Settings, applies live, and needs no reload. See general settings.
The status badges#
- Synced: Backed up and current.
- Local: Not backed up; exists only on this device.
- Pending: Queued to sync, not started yet.
- Syncing: Actively uploading or downloading right now.
- Retrying: A previous attempt failed and it is trying again automatically.
- Conflict: The same conversation was edited on two devices and needs a version chosen.
- Blocked: Sync cannot proceed until something else resolves, such as being offline.
Manual sync#
The sync icon in the pop-up triggers a full re-sync of every data type at once — chats, prompts, sequences, tags, scratchpads, and instruction profiles — rather than a lightweight retry of only what failed, which is why it can take a few seconds.
- It only appears when there is something pending or a retryable error; nothing to click once everything is already synced.
- Clicking it while offline shows a clear message instead of attempting anything.
- A second click while a sync is already running is safely blocked rather than starting a duplicate.
Resolving a conversation conflict#
When a conversation was edited on two devices at once, its repair icon opens a resolution modal with three choices: Merge and keep both, Keep this device, or Keep cloud.
Working offline#
- Messages sent while offline or asleep: Recovered automatically once capture resumes, as long as they are still visible on the page. If the site only keeps a limited window of recent messages loaded, scroll back up so older ones can be captured too.
- Refreshing the page: Never duplicates or loses already-captured messages — capture reconciles by content every time it runs, not by continuing from where it left off.
What turning sync off actually does#
Enable Cloud Sync & Intelligence is a master switch: turning it off stops upload for chats, prompts, scratchpads, sequences, tags, and instruction profiles all at once, not just the AI features. It does not stop usage analytics, which runs separately and only depends on being signed in.
Deleting and undo#
A consistent 15-second Undo window appears in the toast right after deleting a prompt, sequence, conversation, scratchpad, or instruction profile. No other action carries an Undo toast.
FAQ#
What does "Blocked" mean on a sync badge?+
Sync cannot proceed until something else resolves first, most often being offline.
Does Manual Sync just retry what failed?+
No, it re-syncs every data type at once, which is why it can take a few seconds rather than being instant.
Does turning off Cloud Sync & Intelligence stop all data collection about me?+
No. It stops cloud backup and sync only. Usage analytics is a separate system tied to being signed in, and keeps running with sync off.
Can I undo a delete?+
Yes, for 15 seconds right after deleting a prompt, sequence, conversation, scratchpad, or instruction profile, from the toast that appears.
Will messages sent while I was offline be lost?+
No, as long as they are still visible on the page once capture resumes.
