Prompts and Sequences
Prompts & Sequences
Prompts & Sequences is where good instructions stop being retyped. A prompt is a library asset: saved once with a title, content, a target model, and tags, then inserted into any chat in one click or one keystroke. A sequence chains those prompts into an ordered workflow that runs whenever the work repeats. This section covers the full life of both: saving, tagging, inserting, building, and managing, across every surface.
How prompts and sequences work#
- Prompts are assets, not snippets: Each carries a title, its content, a target model, and tags. The model is organisational, so any prompt inserts on either platform.
- Variables turn prompts into templates: {{variable}} placeholders ask for their values at insertion, so one prompt serves many runs.
- Sequences chain prompts by reference: Steps point at library prompts rather than copying them, so editing a prompt updates every workflow that carries it.
- Insertion never sends: Every route lands the text in the chat input, editable. You review it, then you send it.
- One library, everywhere: The same prompts and sequences serve chatgpt.com and claude.ai, syncing through PENDING to SYNCED with Cloud Sync & Intelligence on.
The pages in this section#
| Page | What it covers | Go here when you want to… |
|---|---|---|
| Prompt and sequence interfaces | Every access point: the sidebar's Act tab, the // shortcut, the pop-up route, and the main page libraries. | Find where prompts and sequences live across the surfaces. |
| Save a prompt from the sidebar | The Add New Prompt form beside the chat: the fields, variables, and saving straight from a captured turn. | Save a prompt without leaving the conversation. |
| Save a prompt from the main page | The same form as a modal over your library, plus editing and duplicating saved prompts. | Build out your library away from the chat. |
| Manage tags | The shared tag system: assigning on the save forms, and creating, nesting, renaming, and deleting in Manage Tags. | Organise prompts and sequences by subject. |
| Insert a prompt from the sidebar | Insert Prompt/Pin: search and filters, preview, the insert control, the Fill Prompt Variables dialog, and the Pin tab. | Insert with the library open beside the chat. |
| Insert a prompt with the shortcut | The // menu and the full keyboard flow: Tab to insert, and the Enter mistake to avoid. | Insert without touching the mouse. |
| Insert a prompt from the main page | Copy prompt content and the clipboard route, with variables travelling as placeholders. | Take a prompt anywhere you can paste. |
| Build a sequence from the main page | The Add Sequence builder: steps from your library, drag to reorder, then edit, duplicate, and delete. | Turn a repeated workflow into a saved sequence. |
| Insert a sequence from the sidebar | Running a saved workflow in the chat with Insert Prompt Sequence, the only insertion route for sequences. | Run a workflow step by step. |
| Search and filter | Search on every surface, the tag, model, and library filters, and universal search. | Find anything in the library fast. |
| Manage the prompt and sequence library | Both library views end to end: rows and actions, content preview, CSV import, and the bulk tools. | Run the library at scale. |
Where to next#
Prompts saved from a captured turn begin in Conversations. The Optimize button and Insert Chat Summary draw on the credit pool, covered in Enhance. Ready-made prompts and sequences come from Explore Templates, arriving as linked templates that stay read-only until forked. Exporting the library lives under Cloud Sync & Data.
