Pins
A pin flags a prompt or a response inside a conversation so it surfaces on its own, searchable and ready to insert, without leaving the conversation it came from. This page covers pinning a turn, working with the Pins tab, and inserting a pin back into a chat.
Prerequisites:
- Signed in: Pinning requires a signed-in account. See sign in to the extension.
- A conversation with content: Pins attach to a turn that already exists. See chat capture.
Pin a turn#
- Click the pin icon on a prompt or a response, in Collect mode or on the conversation's own page.
- Prompt and response pin independently: pinning one does not pin the other, unless you choose Both to flag them together in one step.
- Even when both sides of a turn are pinned, they always appear and insert as two separate entries, never together.
The Pins tab#
Open Conversations → Pins to see every pinned prompt and response across all your conversations in one place.
- Search: Find a pin by its text content.
- Filter: Narrow the list by type — prompt or response — or by model.
- Go to chat: Jump from any pin straight back to the conversation it came from.
- Unpin: Click the pin icon again, either on the tab or back on the turn card, to clear the flag. This only removes the pin; the underlying message stays exactly where it was.
Insert a pin#
- From the sidebar: Open the Act tab's Pin sub-tab and click a pinned prompt or response to insert it into the chat input.
- With the // shortcut: Type // in the chat input and choose //pin from the menu, then use the arrow keys and Tab to pick one.
Both routes use the exact same insertion mechanism as a saved prompt, {{variable}} placeholders included, and work the same on every supported site.
Turning a pin into a saved prompt#
There is no direct convert action on the Pins tab. To add a pinned item to your Prompt Library as its own reusable prompt, open its source turn and use Save there instead. See save a prompt from the sidebar.
FAQ#
Can I delete a pinned item directly from the Pins tab?+
Not the message itself — the Pins tab only unpins. To delete the underlying prompt or response, open its source conversation and delete it from there.
Is there a limit to how many things I can pin?+
No, on any plan.
Does pinning both the prompt and response insert them together?+
No. Even pinned together, they always insert one at a time as two separate entries.
Can I turn a pin straight into a saved prompt?+
Not directly. Open the pin's source turn and use Save to add it to your Prompt Library separately.
Does pinning work the same on every AI site?+
Yes. Pin insertion shares the same mechanism as prompt insertion, so it behaves identically everywhere prompts do.
