Sign in to the extension
Signing in connects the installed extension to your Cognardo Workbench account and activates it on chatgpt.com and claude.ai. You can sign in with Google or with your email address and password. This page covers signing in, turning on Enable Cloud Sync & Intelligence, and verifying that everything works.
Prerequisites:
- Cognardo Workbench installed and pinned: See how to install the Chrome extension and pin the extension.
- A Cognardo Workbench account: If you do not have one yet, start by creating an account.
Open the sign-in form#
When you are signed out, the sign-in form is headed Welcome Back, with the line “Sign in to sync your AI conversations”. Three paths open it:
- From the toolbar: Click the pinned Cognardo Workbench icon. The pop-up shows the Welcome Back form whenever you are signed out.
- From the Welcome page: Click Have an account? Sign in at the bottom of the Welcome to Workbench page.
- From the Create Account page: Click Sign In next to “Already have an account?”
Sign in with Google#
- Click Sign in with Google.
- Choose the Google account you signed up with, and complete any prompts Google shows.
Sign in with your email Address#
- Enter your email address in the Email Address field.
- Enter your password in the Password field. The eye icon on the right side of the field shows or hides what you typed.
- Click Sign In.
After you sign in#
- The sign-in form is replaced: The Welcome Back form no longer appears. The pop-up now shows your account state, with the ENABLED toggle on.
- Your data comes back: On an account you have used before, your saved conversations, prompts, scratchpads, and settings are restored where available.
- First sign-in starts the guided tour: On a new account, Cognardo Workbench walks you through its surfaces. The tour and every surface are covered in the interface.
Enable Cloud Sync & Intelligence#
Enable Cloud Sync & Intelligence is the master cloud toggle. Until it is on, everything you save lives only on the current device, and the pop-up marks your data with a Local badge.
- What it unlocks: Cloud backup, sync across devices, account restoration, and the Enhance actions that run on credits.
- What works without it: Recording, prompts, and scratchpads keep working with data stored locally on your device.
To turn it on:
- Click the pinned Cognardo Workbench icon to open the pop-up.
- Find the banner that reads Cloud Sync & Intelligence is disabled for you. Enable it now.
- Click Enable it now.
Verify everything works#
- Open chatgpt.com or claude.ai.
- Click the pinned Cognardo Workbench icon. The pop-up opens in its signed-in state.
- Check three things:
- The ENABLED toggle at the top is on.
- The pop-up names the site you are on.
- With Cloud Sync & Intelligence on, the status row shows Synced.
If the pop-up still shows the Welcome Back form, or the site is not detected, see troubleshooting.
FAQ#
Can I use Cognardo Workbench without signing in?+
No. The surfaces activate after you sign in. Signing in is free, and cloud sync stays optional after that.
Do I have to enable Cloud Sync & Intelligence?+
No. Without it, Cognardo Workbench works with data stored locally on your device. Cloud sync is required for cross-device access, account restoration, and AI features.
What does the Local badge mean?+
Your data is stored on this device only. Turn on Enable Cloud Sync & Intelligence to back it up and sync it across devices.
Do I need to sign in on every device?+
Yes. Sign in on each device where you use Cognardo Workbench. With Cloud Sync & Intelligence on, your data follows your account to each of them. Sync controls are covered in settings.
