The Floater

The floater is the small dot that rides along the edge of the page, the always-available way into Cognardo Workbench's quick actions wherever it runs. This page covers opening its action menu, repositioning it, and where it does and doesn't appear.

Prerequisites:

  • Enable Floater on: The floater needs its toggle on in Settings. See general settings.

Open the action menu#

Click or hover the floater to open its action menu: a fixed set of five quick actions, which auto-collapses after three seconds without interaction.

Move it#

Click and hold the floater's drag handle and move it anywhere on screen. It always slides to and sticks on the nearest edge once released — an edge-snapping design, not free placement — and the position you choose is a single setting shared across every site, not saved per site.

Where it runs#

The floater appears on the built-in AI chat platforms and on any other site added to the permitted-sites list. See general settings to add a site or turn the floater off entirely. It also follows you onto the wider web once a site is enabled, covered in scratchpads on non-LLM pages.

FAQ#

Can I set a different floater position for different sites?+

No. Position is one global setting that applies everywhere the floater runs.

Does dragging the floater let me drop it anywhere?+

Not exactly — it always slides to and sticks on the nearest screen edge once you let go, so it never sits mid-page.

How do I turn the floater off?+

The Enable Floater toggle in Settings. See general settings.

Does the floater work the same on claude.ai?+

Yes, and on any other site it's enabled on.
