Scratchpads on non-LLM pages

Research does not stay inside the chat, and neither do scratchpads. On any ordinary web page, Wikipedia to an article to documentation, the floater stays with you and turns into a capture tool: selected text and whole pages route into the active scratchpad, joining everything collected on chatgpt.com and claude.ai in one container. This page covers the floater beyond the chat sites: what it offers there, both captures, and where the material lands.

Prerequisites:

• Signed in: Captures require a signed-in account. See sign in to the extension.
• The active scratchpad concept: Every capture lands in the active scratchpad, on the web as in the chat. See the active scratchpad.
• The floater on: The Enable Floater toggle in the pop-up keeps the floater available. See the interface.
• The site enabled: Beyond the chat platforms, a site needs to be added to the permitted-sites list before the floater runs on it. See general settings.

The floater beyond the chat#

• It stays on the page: The green dot sits at the edge of ordinary web pages as it does on the chat sites, draggable to reposition.
• Its strip changes with the page: With no conversation to act on, the quick actions turn to capture: saving the page, saving a selection when text is highlighted, and search across your collection.
• The pop-up knows where you are: Open it on an ordinary page and the CURRENT CHAT row reads Non-LLM Page. Nothing records here, and nothing is expected to.
• The sidebar stays home: The sidebar runs on chatgpt.com and claude.ai only, so reading and inserting wait until you are back on a chat site or on the main extension page.

Capture selected text#

1. Highlight the text worth keeping.
2. Click the green floater dot. With text selected, the strip offers Add selection to scratchpad.
Click it:
1. The highlighted text, and only it, lands in the active scratchpad.
2. A confirmation appears over the page, and the word count in the pop-up's SCRATCHPAD row climbs by the size of the selection.

It is the same selection save as on the chat sites, covered in save a selected response, and the same discipline applies: fragment by fragment, a source page becomes curated notes rather than a copy.

Capture a whole page PRO#

1. Open the page you want to keep and click the green floater dot.
2. Click Add page to scratchpad.
The page's readable content lands in the active scratchpad:
1. A confirmation appears over the page.
2. The word count climbs by the size of the page.

What else the floater offers there#

• Selected-text AI actions: Highlight text on any page and run AI actions on it from the floater, each showing its credit cost. The catalog and the credit pool live in Enhance.
• Search across your collection: Universal search stays reachable beyond the chat, so your prompts, conversations, and scratchpads are findable from any page. See search and filter.
