Save the Last Response
Save the last response to Scratchpad
The fastest capture in Cognardo Workbench is one click: the floater's Add last response to scratchpad sends the latest reply in the chat straight into your active scratchpad. No copying, no switching tabs, and the conversation stays where it is. This page covers the floater route, the matching saves in the sidebar, and where the material lands.
Prerequisites:
- Signed in: Saves require a signed-in account. See sign in to the extension.
- A conversation with a response: The save takes the latest reply on chatgpt.com or claude.ai.
- The active scratchpad concept: Every save lands in the active scratchpad. See the active scratchpad.
Save it from the floater#
- Click the green floater dot at the edge of the page. The strip of quick actions expands.
- Click Add last response to scratchpad.
- The latest response lands in the active scratchpad:
- A confirmation appears over the page.
- The word count in the pop-up's SCRATCHPAD row climbs by the size of the save.
- Open the sidebar's Scratchpad tab to see the material in place, in view mode. See view scratchpads in the sidebar.
The same save from the sidebar#
Two sidebar controls run the same capture:
- The quick-action strip: The save-to-scratchpad action at the top of the sidebar takes the latest response, identical to the floater route, for when the sidebar is already open.
- Save to scratchpad on a captured turn: Every ASSISTANT card in the Collect tab carries its own Save to scratchpad action, and it saves that card's response. That is the reach the floater does not have: any earlier reply in the conversation, not only the latest. The card actions are covered in chat capture.
FAQ#
Does saving a response use AI credits?+
No. Saves into a scratchpad are free on every plan. Credits apply only to the AI features that run on scratchpad content. See scratchpad AI features.
Can I save an older response instead of the latest?+
Yes, two ways. Use Save to scratchpad on that response's card in the Collect tab, or highlight the part you want and save the selection. See save a selected response.
How do I check the save worked?+
The word count in the pop-up's SCRATCHPAD row climbs, and the material appears at once in the sidebar's Scratchpad tab and the main page. See view scratchpads in the sidebar.
Does this work the same on claude.ai?+
Yes. The floater, the sidebar routes, and the save behave identically on chatgpt.com and claude.ai, into the same active scratchpad.
The floater is not showing. What now?+
It hides while the sidebar is open, so close the sidebar to bring it back. If it is still missing, check the Enable Floater toggle in the pop-up. Persisting problems are covered in extension not working.
