Turn a Scratchpad into a Quiz

Turn a scratchpad into a quiz

Turn into Quiz is the third scratchpad AI feature, and the one that tests rather than teaches: it reads the collection and builds a quiz from it, question by question, checking your answers as you go and scoring the run at the end. Flash cards drill recall; the quiz finds out what actually stuck. This page covers generating a quiz, taking it, and steering what it asks.

Prerequisites:

  • Signed in, with Cloud Sync & Intelligence on: AI features require the cloud connection and an internet connection. See sign in to the extension.
  • AI credits: The action draws on your monthly credit pool. See Enhance.
  • A scratchpad with content: The quiz is built from what the saves collected. See save the last response.

What makes good quiz material#

A quiz rewards material with checkable answers in it: facts, causes and effects, distinctions between terms, steps in a process. A scratchpad curated down to that substance generates sharper questions than one that swallowed whole responses, filler and all. The curation habits are covered in save a selected response and edit a scratchpad on the main page.

Generate the quiz#

  1. Open the scratchpad in the editor: the Scratchpad tab of the main extension page, the scratchpad's row, then edit mode. See edit a scratchpad on the main page.
  2. Find Turn into Quiz among the controls above the content. The control shows its credit cost.
  3. Click it. The generator reads the scratchpad's content as it stands and builds the quiz from it.

Take the quiz#

The quiz opens in its own viewer and runs one question at a time:

  1. Read the question. Each is drawn from the scratchpad's content, with its answer options beneath it.
  2. Pick an answer:
    1. The quiz checks it at once, marking whether you got it right.
    2. A miss shows what the correct answer was, so a wrong guess still ends in the fact.
  3. Move on to the next question and work through the set.
  4. Finish the run. The quiz ends with your score: how many right out of how many asked, which is the honest measure of what the collection has taught so far.

Your scratchpad stays untouched#

Generation reads the content; it never rewrites it. The scratchpad's text is exactly what it was before the run, so there is no keep-or-discard decision the way there is with Expand / Shorten. Close the viewer and the collection stands as it did.

That also makes the quiz steerable and repeatable: edit the scratchpad and the next run asks about the new content; run it again after a weak score and drill the same material twice. Each run draws on your credits.

FAQ#

Does Turn into Quiz use AI credits?+

Yes. It is an AI action, the control shows its credit cost before you run it, and costs vary by action. The pool and how it renews are covered in Enhance; for the pool each plan includes, see pricing.

Does generating a quiz change my scratchpad?+

No. The quiz is built by reading the content, and the scratchpad's text is untouched before and after the run.

Can I choose what the quiz asks?+

Steer it through the content: questions follow what the scratchpad holds, so an edit pass before generating (keeping the substance, cutting the noise) is how you choose. See edit a scratchpad on the main page.

Can I retake a quiz?+

Yes. Run the action again and drill the same material, or edit the scratchpad first and quiz the updated collection. Each run draws on your credits.

Quiz or flash cards?+

Flash cards for building recall, the quiz for testing it. The productive loop is both: drill the deck, then run the quiz and let the score show which cards need another pass. See generate flash cards from a scratchpad.
