Manage Tags
Manage tags
Tags are the organisation system for prompts and sequences in Cognardo Workbench. One shared tag library serves both: a tag you create for a prompt is available on every sequence, tags can nest under other tags, and filters understand the hierarchy. This page covers the whole system: assigning tags on the save forms, and creating, nesting, renaming, and deleting tags in the central Manage Tags dialog.
Prerequisites:
- Signed in: Tags live in your library and require a signed-in account. See sign in to the extension.
- Know the save forms: Tags are assigned while saving. See save a prompt from the sidebar and save a prompt from the main page.
How tags work#
- One system, two content types: Prompts and sequences draw from the same tag library, and Manage Tags is reachable from both the Prompts and Sequences views.
- Tags nest: Any tag can sit under a parent tag, so hierarchies like Marketing with Email beneath it are natural. Filtering by the parent includes everything under it.
- Tags are one axis of three: Target model and favorites are separate fields, so keep model names and importance out of your tag names. Tags carry the subject.
Assign tags while saving#
The TAGS field on the prompt and sequence forms handles day-to-day assignment:
- Click the field. Your existing tags appear as suggestions, with a checkmark on the ones already assigned.
- Click a suggestion to assign it. Each assigned tag becomes a chip in the field, and an item can carry several.
- Type a name and press Enter to create a tag on the spot. New tags created this way are saved with the item.
- Remove a tag with the X on its chip. Its tooltip reads Remove tag.
Changing tags on a saved item counts as an edit: click Update Prompt and the row syncs the change, PENDING then SYNCED.
Open Manage Tags#
- Open the Prompts & Sequences tab of the main extension page.
- Click Manage Tags, available on both the Prompts and Sequences views. The Manage Tags dialog opens.
Each row in the dialog carries the tag's name, a count of the items tagged with it, an edit pencil, and a delete control, with Add New Tag fixed at the bottom.
Create a tag#
- Click Add New Tag.
- Enter the name in the Tag Name field.
- Optional: choose a parent under NEST UNDER. (None) keeps the tag at the top level; any existing tag can be the parent.
- Click Save Changes.
Rename or re-nest a tag#
- Click the pencil on the tag's row. The Edit Tag form opens with the current name filled in.
- Change the name, or pick a different parent under NEST UNDER.
- Click Save Changes. The change applies across your library. Cancel closes the form without touching anything.
Delete a tag#
- Click the delete control on the tag's row. The tag disappears immediately; there is no confirmation dialog.
- A notification appears reading Deleted, naming the tag, with an Undo button and a countdown bar. Click Undo before it runs out and the tag returns with its item associations intact.
FAQ#
Do prompts and sequences share tags?+
Yes. One tag library covers both, and Manage Tags edits it from either view.
What does the number next to each tag mean?+
How many items in your library carry that tag.
Does filtering by a parent tag include its children?+
Yes. Filtering by a parent returns every item tagged with the parent or anything nested under it. The filter controls are covered in search and filter.
I deleted a tag by mistake. Can I get it back?+
Yes, while the notification is on screen: click Undo and the tag returns with its associations. Once the countdown ends, the deletion is final and the tag has to be recreated.
Can I add a tag to many prompts at once?+
Yes, with Bulk Edit on the Prompts view PRO. See manage the prompt library.
