Prompt and sequence interfaces
Prompts and sequences in Cognardo Workbench are reachable from every surface: the sidebar's Act tab inserts and saves them in the chat, the // shortcut inserts them from the keyboard, and the main extension page holds the libraries where they are built and managed. This page is the reference map of those access points: where each one sits and what it reaches. How the surfaces themselves work is covered in the interface.
Prerequisites:
- Signed in: The prompt and sequence surfaces activate after you sign in. See sign in to the extension.
- Know the surfaces: This page assumes the floater, the sidebar, the pop-up, and the main extension page from the interface.
Every access point at a glance#
| Access point | Opens from | What you reach |
|---|---|---|
| Sidebar, Act tab | Open sidebar for more actions on the floater | The in-page actions: insert prompts, pins, and sequences, and save a prompt. |
| The // shortcut | Typing // in the chat input | Keyboard insertion of prompts, pins, and scratchpad content. |
| Save on a captured turn | The USER card in the sidebar's Collect tab | Saving a prompt straight from the recorded conversation. |
| Pop-up navigation grid | The pinned toolbar icon | The Prompts & Sequences tab of the main extension page. |
| Main extension page, Prompts & Sequences tab | The pop-up grid or the left navigation | The libraries: the Prompts view and the Sequences view. |
| Search Anything | The sidebar header | Universal search across prompts, sequences, conversations, and scratchpads. |
The sidebar: the Act tab#
Act is the in-page surface for prompts and sequences. It carries four action rows:
- Insert Prompt/Pin: Opens the Insert view, with a Prompt tab for your saved prompts and a Pin tab for your pinned turns, plus search and tag and model filters. The full flow is in insert a prompt from the sidebar.
- Insert Prompt Sequence: Opens the Insert Sequence view, listing your saved sequences with each one expandable into its ordered steps. The full flow is in insert a sequence from the sidebar.
- Save Prompt: Opens the Add New Prompt form without leaving the chat. The full flow is in save a prompt from the sidebar.
- Insert Chat Summary: Summarises the current conversation and inserts it. The action shows its credit cost and belongs to Enhance.
A captured prompt can also be saved without the form: the Save action on any USER card in Collect sends that turn's prompt to your library. See save a prompt from the sidebar.
The // shortcut#
Typing // in the chat input opens a shortcut menu above it with three commands: //prompt for saved prompts, //pin for pinned turns, and //scratchpad for scratchpad content. Selection and insertion run on Tab, so the whole flow stays on the keyboard. There is no sequence command; sequences insert from the sidebar. The canonical shortcut reference is insert a prompt with the shortcut.
The pop-up#
The pop-up's navigation grid opens the main extension page: its prompts icon lands on the Prompts & Sequences tab. The pop-up itself holds no prompt actions; it is the route, not the surface.
The main extension page: Prompts & Sequences#
Prompts & Sequences sits second in the left navigation of the main extension page and splits into two views:
- Prompts: The prompt library. Add Prompt creates one from scratch, Manage Tags opens the tag system, and Import CSV with its Download Template link brings prompts in bulk. Below them sit search, the tag, model, and library filters, the bulk controls, and per-row management on every prompt. The flows live in save a prompt from the main page and manage the prompt library.
- Sequences: The sequence library. Add Sequence opens the builder, with its own search, filters, and per-row management beside it. The flows live in build a sequence from the main page.
Universal search#
Search Anything in the sidebar header searches your prompts, sequences, conversations, and scratchpads in one field, with a type label on every result, and a prompt or sequence result opens on the main page. The canonical search reference is search and filter.
FAQ#
Where do I find all my saved prompts?+
On the main extension page, in the Prompts view of the Prompts & Sequences tab. Open the pop-up from the pinned toolbar icon and use the navigation grid. See manage the prompt library.
Can I insert a sequence with the // shortcut?+
No. The shortcut menu carries //prompt, //pin, and //scratchpad. Sequences insert from the sidebar's Insert Prompt Sequence action. See insert a sequence from the sidebar.
What is the difference between a prompt and a pin?+
A prompt is a library asset you author, with a title, target model, and tags. A pin is a bookmarked turn from a conversation, kept with its source and version. Both insert through Insert Prompt/Pin and the // shortcut. Pins live on the conversations main page.
What is the difference between the Act tab and the main page?+
Act works inside the chat: insert and save without leaving the conversation. The main page is where the libraries live: building sequences, tagging, importing, exporting, and bulk management.
Do these access points differ on claude.ai?+
No. Every access point on this page works identically on chatgpt.com and claude.ai.
