Settings Interfaces

Settings interfaces

Settings in Cognardo Workbench live in two places that mirror each other: the pop-up's PREFERENCES carry the everyday switches, one click from any page, and the Settings tab of the main extension page carries the full set. One system underneath, two doors in: a toggle flipped in either place is flipped in both, and the change applies as you work, with no save step and no reload. This page is the reference map of the two surfaces. What each toggle does lives in the rest of the section.

Prerequisites:

The two surfaces at a glance#

SurfaceOpens fromWhat it carries
Pop-up, PREFERENCESThe pinned toolbar iconThe everyday four: Enable Floater, Use custom copy settings PRO, Use active instruction profile, and Auto track citations PRO.
Main extension page, Settings tabThe pop-up navigation gridThe full set: the everyday four, the send-key swap, permitted sites, Strict Submission Mode, Enable Cloud Sync & Intelligence, Smart Suggestions, and the custom copy configuration.

The pop-up: PREFERENCES#

PREFERENCES sits in the pop-up between the scratchpad row and the navigation grid: four switches for the settings that change mid-work.

  • Enable Floater: Whether the green dot sits on your pages. Covered in general settings.
  • Use custom copy settings PRO: Whether copies follow your custom configuration. Covered in copy settings.
  • Use active instruction profile: Whether the active profile attaches as prompts insert. The switch is mapped here; the behaviour is canonical in use the active profile.
  • Auto track citations PRO: Whether cited links in responses are tracked as they arrive. The switch is mapped here; the behaviour is canonical in citation and hallucination analysis.

The four earn their place by tempo: the floater for a page where it is in the way, copy settings for one paste that needs to be clean, the profile for one task that should run without the standing rules, citation tracking for a session that does not need the checks.

The main extension page: the Settings tab#

The Settings tab sits last in the left navigation of the main extension page, reached from the pop-up's navigation grid. It is the full console:

  • Everything the pop-up has: The everyday four, same switches, same state.
  • The send-key swap: Replacing Enter with Cmd/Ctrl + Enter for sending, the deliberate-send option. Covered in general settings.
  • Enable Cloud Sync & Intelligence: The master cloud toggle's settings home. The switch is mapped here; enabling it, and what it unlocks, stays canonical in sign in to the extension and Cloud Sync & Data.
  • Permitted sites and Strict Submission Mode: Two more switches with only a Settings-tab home, no pop-up mirror. Covered in general settings.
  • Smart Suggestions: The toggle for contextual tips and prompts, dependent on Cloud Sync & Intelligence being on. Covered in Smart Suggestions.
  • The custom copy configuration: What Use custom copy settings actually applies, configured here. Covered in copy settings.

One system, two doors#

  • Changes mirror instantly: Flip a toggle in the pop-up and the Settings tab shows it flipped, and the reverse. There is nothing to reconcile.
  • Changes apply as you work: No save button, no reload. The next action follows the new state: the next copy, the next insertion, the next response.
  • Settings ride your account: With Enable Cloud Sync & Intelligence on, your settings follow your sign-in across devices. See Cloud Sync & Data.

FAQ#

Where do I change settings while I work?+

The pop-up: one click on the pinned icon, flip the switch, carry on. The four everyday toggles live there precisely because they change mid-task.

Where is the full list of settings?+

The Settings tab on the main extension page: the everyday four plus the send-key swap, the cloud master toggle, and the custom copy configuration.

Do I need to save or reload after changing a setting?+

No. Changes apply as you work, and the two surfaces mirror each other instantly.

Do my settings follow me to another device?+

With Enable Cloud Sync & Intelligence on, yes: settings ride your account like your content does. See Cloud Sync & Data.

Are settings the same on chatgpt.com and claude.ai?+

Yes. One set of settings governs both platforms; a toggle flipped anywhere applies everywhere.
