Error Codes

Error codes#

This reference lists stable codes that can help a user choose a recovery path. A code is not a complete diagnosis: read the message shown with it, preserve local data, and follow the linked guide. Codes used only inside Workbench are deliberately omitted.

Account and authentication#

INVALID_CREDENTIALS#

Where: Sign-in. Meaning: The email, password, or linked sign-in details were not accepted. Safety: Saved local data is unchanged. Credits: No AI credits are used. Recovery: Check the account and credentials, or reset the password. Escalate: Contact support after a verified reset still fails.

INVALID_API_KEY#

Where: An authenticated API request. Meaning: The supplied credential is not valid for the request. Safety: The protected operation is rejected. Credits: No new AI work should start. Recovery: Sign in again and retry once. Escalate: Report the code without sharing tokens or keys.

UNAUTHORIZED#

Where: Account or protected feature request. Meaning: A valid session was not available. Safety: Local content remains. Credits: No new paid work should be accepted. Recovery: Sign in to the intended account and retry. Escalate: Contact support if a fresh session repeats the code.

FORBIDDEN#

Where: A protected resource or operation. Meaning: The signed-in account is not allowed to perform it. Safety: The operation is blocked. Credits: Normally no AI credit impact. Recovery: Confirm the account, ownership, and plan. Escalate: Provide the resource type and code, not private content.

USER_NOT_VERIFIED#

Where: Email-account sign-in or protected account action. Meaning: Email verification is incomplete. Safety: Existing data is unchanged. Credits: No AI credits are used. Recovery: Complete verification, then sign in again. Escalate: Contact support if a valid verification cannot be completed.

PASSWORD_WEAK#

Where: Sign-up or password change. Meaning: The password does not meet current strength rules. Safety: No password change is saved. Credits: Not applicable. Recovery: Choose a stronger, unique password. Escalate: Only if a compliant password is still rejected.

OTP_EXPIRED#

Where: Email verification. Meaning: The one-time code is past its validity window. Safety: The account remains unverified. Credits: Not applicable. Recovery: Request a new code and use only the newest one. Escalate: Contact support if new codes arrive already expired.

OTP_INVALID#

Where: Email verification. Meaning: The entered one-time code does not match. Safety: Verification is not completed. Credits: Not applicable. Recovery: Re-enter the latest code exactly or request a new one. Escalate: After a newly issued code is still rejected.

OTP_NOT_FOUND#

Where: Email verification. Meaning: No active verification code was found for the request. Safety: The account remains unverified. Credits: Not applicable. Recovery: Restart verification and request a new code. Escalate: If the new flow repeats the code.

EMAIL_SEND_FAILED#

Where: Verification or account email delivery. Meaning: Workbench could not send the requested email. Safety: No secret or password should be exposed. Credits: Not applicable. Recovery: Check the address and retry later once. Escalate: Contact support if delivery repeatedly fails.

RATE_LIMIT_EXCEEDED#

Where: Sign-in, verification, or another rate-limited request. Meaning: Too many requests were made in the current window. Safety: Existing data remains. Credits: A rejected preflight request should not start AI work. Recovery: Stop retrying and wait before trying again. Escalate: If the code persists after a reasonable wait with no repeated attempts.

Plans, subscriptions, and credits#

BILLING_ACCOUNT_NOT_FOUND#

Where: Plan, credit, or billing action. Meaning: The billing record for the signed-in account could not be found. Safety: Do not repeat purchases. Credits: Existing balance should be checked before AI retries. Recovery: Refresh Account Settings and confirm the account. Escalate: Contact support with the code and account email, never payment credentials.

INSUFFICIENT_CREDITS#

Where: AI-action preflight. Meaning: The available balance is below the displayed action cost. Safety: The action is blocked before completion. Credits: No additional credits should be deducted by this rejection. Recovery: Review usage, wait for reset, or use an available top-up or plan option. Escalate: If the visible balance should cover the action.

SUBSCRIPTION_INACTIVE#

Where: Paid feature or billing action. Meaning: The subscription is not currently active. Safety: Existing local data remains. Credits: Do not repeatedly start the paid action. Recovery: Review billing status and any payment notice. Escalate: Contact support for an unexpected inactive state.

FEATURE_NOT_ENABLED#

Where: A gated product feature. Meaning: A required setting, entitlement, or rollout is not enabled. Safety: The operation is rejected. Credits: No completed AI result means no normal completion charge. Recovery: Read the inline requirement, enable the setting, or review the plan. Escalate: If the feature should be available.

INVALID_SUBSCRIPTION#

Where: Plan or billing reconciliation. Meaning: The subscription data cannot be used for the requested action. Safety: Avoid starting another purchase until checked. Credits: Review the displayed balance before AI retries. Recovery: Refresh billing status and confirm the account. Escalate: Contact support with the code and billing event time.

Request and service errors#

RESOURCE_NOT_FOUND#

Where: Loading or changing a saved resource. Meaning: The requested item no longer exists or is not available to this account. Safety: Preserve any local copy. Credits: Usually not relevant. Recovery: Refresh the list, clear filters, and inspect sync recovery. Escalate: If a synced item disappeared unexpectedly.

VALIDATION_ERROR#

Where: A submitted form or API request. Meaning: One or more values do not meet the accepted shape or limits. Safety: The rejected change is not committed. Credits: Correct input before retrying an AI action. Recovery: Follow the field-level message and submit valid content. Escalate: If valid input is rejected consistently.

INTERNAL_ERROR#

Where: A service request. Meaning: Workbench encountered an unexpected server failure. Safety: Preserve the local item and do not assume the request completed. Credits: Check History and credit usage before repeating paid work. Recovery: Retry once after a short wait. Escalate: Provide the code, time, feature, and any request identifier shown.

Cross Compare#

MODEL_SELECTION_CHANGED#

Where: Cross Compare before request acceptance. Meaning: One or more cached model choices are no longer in the current catalog. Safety: Workbench refreshes the catalog instead of silently substituting a model. Credits: 0 credits for this rejected attempt. Recovery: Review the refreshed choices and run again. Escalate: If every available selection repeats the code.

Sync and data#

The following codes describe local-first sync. Unless the message explicitly says otherwise, preserve the local item and open its badge before taking action.

AUTH#

Where: Cloud sync. Meaning: The last cloud request could not prove the session. Safety: The local copy remains. Credits: Not applicable. Recovery: Retry once; sign in only if Login opens. Escalate: If a fresh session repeats it.

VALIDATION#

Where: Cloud sync. Meaning: The saved shape or content was rejected. Safety: The local copy remains. Credits: Not applicable. Recovery: Open Fix sync, correct the item, save, and retry. Escalate: Preserve the exact validation message if valid data still fails.

OVERSIZE#

Where: Cloud sync. Meaning: The item is too large for that operation. Safety: The local copy remains. Credits: Not applicable. Recovery: Reduce or split the item, then retry. Escalate: If a clearly small item receives the code.

LIMIT_REACHED#

Where: Cloud sync. Meaning: The plan has no available cloud slot for that item type. Safety: The item stays on the device. Credits: Not applicable. Recovery: Free a slot or review the plan, then retry. Escalate: If usage is visibly below the plan limit.

CONFLICT#

Where: Cloud sync. Meaning: Preserved local and cloud versions differ. Safety: Both versions should be reviewed before choosing. Credits: Not applicable. Recovery: Download recovery JSON, then merge or deliberately keep one copy. Escalate: If neither version can be opened safely.

UPDATE_REQUIRED#

Where: Cloud sync compatibility check. Meaning: The extension or service needs a compatible version. Safety: Keep the local item. Credits: Not applicable. Recovery: Update or reload Workbench, then retry. Escalate: If the latest version repeats the code.

REMOTE_MISSING#

Where: Cloud sync recovery. Meaning: The cloud record is absent while a local copy exists. Safety: Recovery is guarded; final or retired IDs cannot be restored. Credits: Not applicable. Recovery: Open Recover local copy, download any recovery JSON, and restore only when eligible. Escalate: If an eligible valid copy cannot be restored.

TRANSIENT_EXHAUSTED#

Where: Cloud sync retry queue. Meaning: Automatic retries stopped after repeated temporary failures. Safety: The local copy remains. Credits: Not applicable. Recovery: Retry once when the connection is stable. Escalate: If the same reason returns immediately.

UNKNOWN_PERMANENT#

Where: Cloud sync. Meaning: Sync stopped after repeated unclassified server failures. Safety: Preserve the local item and exact error. Credits: Not applicable. Recovery: Retry once, then stop repeated attempts. Escalate: Contact support with the item type, time, and code.
