Troubleshoot Import and Export
Troubleshoot import and export#
Import and export use separate rules. A CSV import can partly succeed, while an export format can be unavailable because of the plan, content type, or current surface.
CSV import is unavailable#
CSV prompt import is available on Pro and Max. Free users must upgrade before the Import control can add rows. Confirm you are signed in to the account with the paid plan and reopen the Prompt Library after a plan change.
Some CSV rows failed#
Workbench processes rows separately. A failed row does not undo rows already imported.
- Read the succeeded and failed counts.
- Check the failed row's required columns and values against the provided CSV format.
- Rename or remove duplicate prompt titles.
- Resolve plan-limit or browser-storage errors.
- Keep failed rows selected and choose Retry failed to retry only those rows.
Do not re-import the entire file without reviewing the success count; that can create avoidable duplicates.
An imported template prompt cannot be edited#
Linked or imported template prompts are read-only by design, including bulk edit. Open the prompt and choose Fork to create an independent copy, then edit the fork. The original template remains linked and unchanged.
An export format is missing or locked#
Available formats depend on the content and plan. Confirm the current account, open the item's Export menu, and read the upgrade message for a locked format. A report page may have no export control even when the underlying conversation or scratchpad supports export elsewhere.
The export did not appear#
- Exports download immediately; check the browser's Downloads list and download permission.
- Browser security can block repeated automatic downloads. Retry one export after allowing downloads for the extension.
- Use a smaller selection if a very large bulk export exhausts memory.
- If the item is still saving or syncing, wait for it to finish before exporting the final version.
CSV, ZIP, filenames, and PDF output#
- CSV is a data format. ZIP is packaging for multiple exported files, not a document format.
- Bulk export may create a ZIP containing one file per item; selecting CSV does not mean the outer package cannot be ZIP.
- Workbench sanitizes characters that the operating system cannot use in filenames. The downloaded name may differ safely from the item title.
- Long PDF content is paginated. If text or tables are clipped, retry from the item's supported export surface and report the content type and page where clipping begins.
