Managing Imported Content
Managing imported content
An imported template behaves differently from one you built yourself: it stays read-only until forked, and it can be refreshed from its source. This page covers editing, forking, and updating a template once it is in your library.
Prerequisites:
- A template already imported or forked: See import or fork a template.
Editing a linked import#
An imported prompt is read-only by design, for both single and bulk editing, for as long as it stays linked to its source.
- Fork it to create an independent, fully editable copy in your library. The forked copy has no ongoing link back to the source, so it can be edited freely from that point on.
Updating an import from its source#
- Open the Prompt Library page on the main extension page.
- Use Update on a single imported prompt, or Update All to refresh every one at once, pulling in the latest version from the source template.
FAQ#
Why can't I edit a template prompt I imported?+
Imported prompts stay read-only by design, for as long as they remain linked. Fork the prompt to get an independent, editable copy.
How do I know if a template I imported has a newer version?+
Check the Prompt Library page, not Explore Templates — Update and Update All appear there when a newer version is available.
Does forking an imported prompt break its link to the source?+
Yes. A forked copy is independent from that point on; it no longer updates from the source template.
Can I bulk-update everything I have imported?+
Yes, with Update All on the Prompt Library page.
