Import or Fork a Template
Import or fork a template
Every template in Explore Templates can be brought into your library two ways: Import, for a linked copy that stays current with the source, or Fork, for an independent copy you can edit right away. This page covers browsing to a template and choosing between the two.
Prerequisites:
- Signed in: Explore Templates requires a signed-in account to browse, even just to look around.
Browse, search, and preview#
- Open Explore Templates and use the category filters to narrow the gallery.
- Search by name in the search box — plain substring matching, the same as most search in the product.
- Click a prompt template to open its preview, showing the full prompt content before you decide.
- Click a sequence template to open its preview, showing the ordered list of step titles; the full content of each step becomes visible once the sequence is imported or forked.
Import#
Import adds a linked, read-only copy to your library. Re-importing the same template is deduped and shows an In Library state instead of a duplicate.
- For a sequence template: each nested prompt imports first, then the sequence is rewritten to point at your own local copies.
Fork#
Fork adds an independent, immediately editable copy with no ongoing link back to the source. Forking the same template again creates another independent copy, useful when you want more than one variant to diverge from.
Limits#
- Prompt templates: Imports and forks count against your overall prompt limit — 25 total on Free, unlimited on PRO and MAX. There is no separate template-specific cap for prompts.
- Sequence templates: Imports have their own tiered limit, separate from your regular sequence count — 1 on Free, 25 on PRO, unlimited on MAX.
FAQ#
What is the difference between Import and Fork?+
Import gives a linked, read-only copy that can later be updated from the source. Fork gives an independent, editable copy with no link. Neither converts into the other.
Can I submit my own template to the gallery?+
No. Explore Templates is curated, with every template admin-authored; there is no submission or publishing flow for your own.
Do I need to be signed in just to browse?+
Yes. Explore Templates requires a signed-in account, even to look around.
Does importing a sequence template count against my regular sequence limit?+
No, it has its own separate, tiered limit. See the limits above.
Can I fork the same template more than once?+
Yes. Each fork is its own independent copy.
