Progress, History, and Credits

Progress, history, and credits

Every Enhance action shares the same mechanics behind it: a live progress overlay, a cancel control, an optional background notification, and a record afterward in AI History. This page covers all four, plus the full credit-cost list in one place.

Prerequisites:

The progress overlay#

Starting any Enhance action opens a progress overlay that streams the real response live as it generates, rather than showing a spinner until it finishes.

  • Full page or sidebar: Starting an action from the floater opens a full-page overlay; starting the same kind of action from the sidebar keeps it confined to the sidebar panel, leaving the rest of the page usable.

Cancelling an action#

  • Click Cancel on the overlay as early as possible for the best chance of a free, instant stop.
  • The button relabels to Stop once billing has effectively started, just after the initial credit check and well before any visible output. From that point, stopping shows a warning that credits may still be charged.

Running in the background#

Every Enhance action already keeps running whether the sidebar is open, closed, or backgrounded — that part never changes. Run in Background only controls whether you get a completion or failure toast in your open tabs once it finishes. Turn it on for a notification, or leave it off and check back manually.

Recovering a result later#

Whether closing the browser mid-run loses the result depends on the action:

  • Recoverable afterward: Explain, Flashcards, Quiz, Rewrite Tone, and Expand/Shorten from the sidebar.
  • Not recoverable if the tab or browser closes mid-run: Create summary and fork chat, Web Summary, and Compare Across LLMs.

Keep the tab open for the second group until the action finishes.

AI History and credit costs#

Every past Enhance action — Optimize, Compare Across LLMs, Citation Reports, Quiz, and the rest — is listed on the AI History page under the Account tab, alongside past Citation and Cross-Compare reports.

FAQ#

Will I still be charged if I cancel an action?+

Not necessarily, but it's possible. Clicking Cancel or Stop stops the request, but if a result was already produced or the provider's work could not be interrupted in time, a charge can still go through.

What does Run in Background actually control?+

Only the completion notification. The action itself already runs independently of whether the sidebar is open — Run in Background just decides whether you get a toast when it's done.

Can I close my browser while an action runs?+

For Explain, Flashcards, Quiz, Rewrite Tone, and sidebar Expand/Shorten, yes — the result is there afterward. For Create summary and fork chat, Web Summary, and Compare Across LLMs, keep the tab open until it finishes.

Where do I see my past AI actions?+

The AI History page under the Account tab. See account settings.

Where do I check my remaining credits?+

Also on the Account tab, alongside AI History.
