Instruction Profile Interfaces

Instruction profile interfaces

Instruction profiles are the standing instructions of Cognardo Workbench: rules written once, applied to your prompts as they insert, so tone, format, and constraints stop being retyped. The feature lives in two places: the main extension page holds the library where profiles are built and one is marked active, and the pop-up holds the toggle that switches the active profile on and off as you work. This page is the reference map of those access points. What a profile is and what active means is covered in the active profile.

Prerequisites:

  • Signed in: Instruction profiles require a signed-in account. See sign in to the extension.
  • Know the surfaces: This page assumes the pop-up and the main extension page from the interface.

The main extension page: the Instruction Profiles tab#

The Instruction Profiles tab sits in the left navigation of the main extension page, reached from the pop-up's navigation grid. It is the feature's home ground:

  • The library: Every profile you have, one row each, with the active one identified.
  • Creation: Building a new profile: its name and the instructions it carries. See create a profile.
  • Management: Editing, deleting, and marking a profile active, which is the state that matters: one profile is active at a time, and it is the one insertion uses. See manage profiles.

The pop-up: the Use active instruction profile toggle#

Use active instruction profile sits in the pop-up's PREFERENCES, beside the other everyday switches. It is the on-off for the whole feature in daily work: on, the active profile's instructions attach to the prompts you insert; off, prompts insert clean, and the profile waits without being unset. The working behaviour, and when to flip it, is covered in use the active profile.

Where the profile lands: insertion#

Profiles have no surface of their own in the chat; they ride on insertion. With the toggle on, the active profile's instructions attach as a prompt inserts, from the sidebar's Insert Prompt/Pin and from the // shortcut alike, and what lands in the chat input stays editable text, nothing sent. The insertion routes themselves are covered in insert a prompt from the sidebar and insert a prompt with the shortcut.

FAQ#

Where do I create and switch profiles?+

On the main extension page, in the Instruction Profiles tab: creation, editing, and marking one active all live there. See create a profile and manage profiles.

What does the pop-up toggle actually control?+

Whether the active profile applies as you insert. It never changes which profile is active; that stays a library decision on the main page. See use the active profile.

Do profiles apply when I type a prompt by hand?+

Profiles ride on insertion: they attach to prompts inserted from your library and the shortcut. Typing into the chat input directly is between you and the platform. The full behaviour is covered in use the active profile.

How many profiles can I keep?+

The count is plan-dependent: the free plan has a cap, PRO raises it, and MAX removes it. For what each plan includes, see pricing.

Do profiles work the same on claude.ai?+

Yes. One library, one active profile, and one toggle serve chatgpt.com and claude.ai identically.
